Our story began in 1987 with our founder, Jimmy Green. A passionate member of the US Disabled Track Team, Jimmy saw first-hand how difficult it could be to find the adaptive sports equipment disabled athletes need to compete. He and his wife Stacy, a coach for the US team and Recreation Therapist at Shepherd Center, founded Sportaid in 1988—emerging as an industry pioneer in supplying specialized, high-quality products for disabled athletes.
Our business continued to grow as Jimmy and Stacy traveled the world for road races and track events; in 1996, Sportaid became the first online supplier of wheelchairs and related products.
From racing tires and hand cycling stuff to everyday wheelchairs and daily living aids, our company journey has evolved in response to our customers’ needs. Today, we offer a full spectrum of stuff, adaptive products, and specialty equipment to help people live the active, fulfilling lives they want.
